Globally, climate change has amplified the frequency and intensity of natural disasters like flooding, wildfires, and extreme storms. Often, our most vulnerable communities suffer most due to aging infrastructure, lack of resilient design, and a lack of resources. As one of the world’s highest polluters, our industry directly contributes to climate change and exacerbates climate justice. With a responsibility to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of our users and communities, and in alignment with the AIA 2030 commitment, architects must learn to design green, design resiliently, and design holistically from beginning to end. This panel of cross-disciplinary experts will focus on the trends in climate change, explore issues of climate justice amplified by design, and brainstorm how we as design professionals can do more to meet our commitment and ensure environmentally friendly architecture in our community and abroad. Our panelists include Elysia Russell (City of St. Louis), Heather Navarro (Midwest Climate Collaborative), and James Roseberry (Trivers, MO Gateway Green Building Council). This will be a an in-person event at Arcturis (St. Louis). Networking - 5:30 pm Panel Begins - 6:00 pm Credit: 1.5 LU|HSW Register using the button above.
