The competition was founded to capture and honor architects, design professionals and architectural students (AIAS members) whose amazing talents are showcased in their photographic interpretation of the designed environment.

The 2021 AIA National Photography Competition will begin January 5, 2021

We invite you to enter to 2021 Competition.   The winning images will be exhibited on the AIA St. Louis website, and available to your Chapter for posting. Cash awards for top award-winning images will be made (see below) & notecards will be made of the 14 winning images; each winner will receive a set of his or her winning images notecards.

Next Year's Deadline: April 15, 2021 at midnight, Central Time

Guidelines for Entries:

Each Center for Architecture or AIA Chapter in the US may request a flash drive with the entries and winning images highlighted, to be displayed electronically.  In addition, note cards will be made of the top fourteen winners and will be available for purchase in outlets.  Each of the 14 winners will be provided a complimentary set of the note cards in 2021.

The subject matter must have an architectural theme or must contain some element of the man-made environment. Photographic interpretation of the subject matter is the issue, not the architecture. Entries must have been exposed by, and be owned by, the entrant.  Images previously awarded with a cash winning honor in previous AIA National Photography Competition(s) is/are not eligible for entry.

Entrants grant permission to the AIA to reproduce images for exhibitions, AIA publications and for promotional purposes. All reproductions will become the property of AIA St. Louis.  Should AIA St. Louis use the photographs for an additional purpose, we will secure written permission from the entrant.  The decision of the judges is final on all matters relating to the competition. Void where prohibited by law.
