EVENTS
So, your firm is looking to be a signatory to the AIA 2030 Commitment. Now what?
Our next COTE After Hours session will be Introduction to Sustainability Action Plans, a workshop and interactive Q&A session. Signatories to the 2030 Commitment are asked to create a Sustainability Action Plan (SAP) within the first few months after joining, in order to map each firm’s specific goals and path forward. James Roseberry (Trivers) will review how an SAP can help the transition to incorporating sustainability in a firm’s practice through a process of reviewing firm philosophy, goal setting and tracking, reviewing internal operations, and how to leverage the SAP for marketing and outreach. We will workshop the key elements of an SAP, giving attendees a framework and outline that they can complete with their own firms. Chris Wilson will share Mackey Mitchell’s perspective as a recent Commitment signatory.
Here is a downloadable guide for creating a sustainability action plan that works.
Does your firm already have a Sustainability Action Plan? Please join us and lend your experiences to help others. Or, feel free to attend simply for the camaraderie and free food! As always, we will have snacks and drinks available from a local Green Dining Alliance member, thanks to our series sponsor Velux Commercial. Cheers!

Materials Certificate Program
Material selection is a core service provided by architects, but that process is far from simple. The Materials Certificate Program untangles the complexities of that process in five essential courses. The key? Materials transparency. When you know everything you can about the materials you use, you’re able to make the best product decisions for projects, people, and the environment. The courses cover different types of impacts, and best practices for reducing these impacts, from industry-best instructors. Each course will be followed by a Q&A session moderated by local and national experts.
Each course is worth (1) LU/HSW credit. Take all five courses and earn a certificate! All courses are free of charge, courtesy of our series sponsor, CaraGreen

The AIA 2030 Commitment provides an actionable framework for architects and designers to meet the 2030 Challenge goals of carbon neutral buildings by 2030. This series will inspire architects to meet the 2030 goals through design strategies, efficient technologies and systems, and renewable energy resources.
Anyone completing all courses in the AIA+2030 Online Series will receive a certificate acknowledging their completion of all courses in the program, in addition to the individual course certificates available upon completion of each course.
