Architect Charles Erwin King, FAIA, a 1946 graduate of the University of Illinois, was one of the most prolific of mid-century modern architects practicing in metropolitan St. Louis. In the wake of his 40+ year career, King’s works of Mid-Century modern design now number over seventy custom residences in existence in Southern Illinois, particularly in Belleville. Our meeting will consist of a lecture by Belleville Historical Society docents, and a tour of the 1952 Blazier House / Museum including artifacts of King’s works. Afterwards, all are encouraged to extend our visit to the Metro East by stopping by the 22nd annual Art on the Square in downtown Belleville.
