This panel discussion will create an opportunity for designers to engage the emerging idea of all gender restroom design, acknowledging the importance of inclusive restrooms and the involved considerations of the specific design process. Our purpose is to provide an educational and social experience including dedicated networking time before the main presentation. This hybrid event will be a participatory one featuring a panel of specifically experienced speakers from diverse positions of the particular design process. The event will begin with presentations of relevant precedent projects followed by prompted and open discussion components. 

Our discussion will be moderated by Anna Vogel (MR & Associates, Inc.) and panelists include Amanda Truemper (Trivers), Greg Turner (Fox Architects), and Abby Buchmann (M+H Architects).

Food and beverages will be provided.

 MR Associates

Anna Vogel is managing principal at MR Associates, specialists in commercial restrooms, and is based in St. Louis, MO.

Anna began her professional career as an interior designer, specializing in sustainable design & operations. In 2021, She joined MR Associates to promote commercial restroom products such as Sloan, Bobrick, and Hadrian. She works with architects, interior designers, and engineers to help find solutions to meet the unique needs of each project. Anna has degrees in communications and interior design, along with an MBA in sustainability.

Amanda Truemper

Trivers

Amanda Truemper, AIA. LEED AP BD+C, is a Registered Architect and Senior Project Manager with over 20 years of experience, specializing in corporate workplace design and branded environments paired with a passion for historic preservation and adaptive reuse. Throughout her career she has worked on projects in the hospitality, mixed-use and multi-family, retail, education, and mission-driven sectors. Amanda’s work has been honored with awards from the AIA, IIDA Gateway Chapter, Illuminating Engineering Society, and Landmarks Association of St. Louis. She is a strong advocate for the profession’s responsibility to provide for equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in the built environment across all project types.

Greg Turner

Fox Architects

Greg Turner, AIA, NCARB, is a licensed architect supporting a diverse client base at Fox Architects with exemplary technical expertise and attention to detail. He possesses a passion for universal and inclusive design as it relates to the function and usability of space for all individuals. Based on his personal experience, Greg works closely with differently-abled individuals to better understand the challenges one faces within the built environment. Some of Greg’s roles at Fox entail project management, code reviews, process standards, quality control & assessment, and mentorship.

 

Abby Buchmann

M+H Architects

Abby Buchmann, LEED Green Associate, and interior designer at M+H Architects, has nearly 8 years of industry experience focusing on commercial and workplace design. With a Master of Interior Architecture and Product Design degree, she is passionate about all scales of design, from million-plus square foot facades to the ergonomic pull handle on a desk drawer. Abby strives to educate herself and others about all aspects of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the built environment. As a designer, she advocates for inclusivity for all, and is dedicated to enhancing the health, safety, and everyday life of those who occupy or visit her projects. For the past few years, she has been a member of the AIA St. Louis Chapter’s Community Engagement Committee, which promotes architecture and design by within the local community through the development of diverse educational and professional programs.
