AIA requires Continuing Education participation to maintain membership. This requirement was encated to ensure that members are kept apprised of the latest research on quality of life issues, safety issues, and product selection.
AIA members must earn 18 hours of Continuing Education each year to maintain membership. In addition, 8 of the hours must be in the areas of Health Safety Welfare studies.
The state of Missouri requires architects to earn 24 hours of Continuing Education in each two year period prior to renewal, of which 16 must be in the areas of Health Safety and Welfare.
